I have done my fair deal of online shopping and I would like to share a few pointers:
- Avoid expensive custom fees by buying from stores in Canada.
- Create a paypal.ca account and use it to pay for your purchased goods instead of giving your credit card information left and right.
- When buying very big items, consider first buying it from an Online Store that is also a “Brick and Mortar” Store like FutureShop with a store near you, it will save you some pains if you have to return it.
- Use price comparison websites to find the best deals, here are my favorites in no particular order:
- Look for current “hot deals” on RedFlagDeals.com
- Do you know what you are buying? :
- Google the product you are about to buy, If you want to buy a 60 inch LED TV try “Best 60 inch LED TV”, “60 inch TV roundup”…
- Read the online reviews (From amazon.com for example).
- Look at DigitalHome.ca’s Forum – Retailer Reviews if you are buying Audio, Video or Home Theater products from an unknown store it might be reviewed there.
- If you are looking for a TV or computer monitor flatpanelshd.com have a nice list of recommendations that is being kept up to date.
- here are some stores I personally used and had good experience with when building my home theater:
- Only Best Rated Have good, inexpensive TV Wall Mount Brackets (monoprice.com brand).
- Cables On Sale and Cable Sales Canada have good, inexpensive A/V Cables and banana plugs.
I hope you found these tips useful and wish you a good online shopping experience!
